Motivational Interviewing

AIM: To introduce participants to the principles of Motivational Interviewing and to increase confidence and skills in working with people who are resistant to change

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the concept of motivation and how it relates to behaviour change
  • Identify the skills needed when assessing clients’ motivation
  • Identify ways to improve interventions with people who are resistant to changing some of their risk behaviours
  • Apply counselling skills to promote clients’ motivation
  • Outline the theoretical basis for this style of information

Training is 1 day (09.30-16.30) in-person, in Leeds and costs £99.
